Our Mission Statement:

Teaching in all areas of life, the Truth,
as centered in the Lord Jesus of the Bible.

Tabernacle School will impact children with the message of Jesus Christ.  We desire to instill in our students a sense of worth and competence.  It is our vision to create a school spirit which emphasizes the unique giftedness of all students and mold their characters in wisdom and truth.

Tabernacle School was founded in 1971 under the umbrella of Tabernacle Baptist Church as an evangelical outreach ministry.  From our small beginnings of five kindergarten students in 1971, we have grown to approximately 500 students in Junior Kindergarten through 8th grade.

In 1989 our Founder, Margaret Bridges, felt God calling’s calling to establish Christian schools in parts of the world that were previously unreachable.  Tabernacle School has partnered with several schools overseas to help spread the good news and we continue to identify opportunities to impact our world.

The school and the church separated operations in 1996 and have continued to share use of the Tabernacle Church property.

At the beginning of the 2009 school year Mrs. Bridges retired from daily school service.  We are grateful for the impact she has made as the Founder of Tabernacle School and we continue to honor her vision and her heart for children.  A management team was formed to oversee the day-to-day operations of the school, while our board continues to be responsible for the vision, mission, and finances of the school.

Tabernacle School has flourished under our current leadership team.  We are continuing to look for ways to improve our campus through the use of technology and the integration of teaching methods based on our philosophy of multiple intelligences. Each year we strive for excellence in education while fostering a loving family atmosphere where children grow and thrive.

Traditionally, schools have recognized and rewarded children for giftedness within a narrow range of abilities.  Tabernacle School firmly believes that all children are gifted, and that our school’s responsibility is to help students discover and develop the unique abilities with which God has gifted them.  At the end of each quarter we set aside time to recognize students for their individual talents and character traits.  Our GIFT program assures that all children are recognized for at least one of ten areas of giftedness—even those who are not exceptionally gifted in the specific areas of math and reading.  The multiple intelligences for which we recognize students at our quarterly awards assemblies are:  visual, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, creationist, mathematical, logical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, leadership, and moral intelligences.

Tabernacle School also seeks to develop the character of children with our LIVE program, Learning Important Values Everyday, which zeroes in on five basic qualities for which the children are recognized at our quarterly award assemblies: responsible, respectful, compassionate, cooperative, and courageous.  In addition, teachers reinforce these qualities as they see them lived out in the lives of the children.  Teachers are encouraged to send children to the office as they are “caught being good.”  We will then send a letter home detailing how the student displayed commendable behavior.

We are dually accredited by the Association for Christian Schools International and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Each year our students test and rank nationally through the IOWA Standardized Test.
